In this webinar as part of our marijuana and pregnancy educational series, we were joined by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Mirine Richey, MPH, IBCLC, who educated about marijuana and breastfeeding. Mirine discussed about how marijuana and cannabis products get into mother’s milk, what possible effects are known, and provided several resources to assist when having discussions about the risks of marijuana to breastfeeding, including exploring motivation.

Webinar Presenter: Mirine Richey, MPH, IBCLC, Research Faculty with Florida State University and Lactation Consultant
Mirine is expert faculty in maternal-child health with the FSU Center for Prevention and Early Intervention Policy. Her work centers around the training of national home visiting programs and community health providers. Over 900 participants have completed the FSU Breastfeeding Counselor Course since it’s launch in 2019. Prior to her work at FSU, Mirine worked in the WIC program as a lactation consultant and in Florida home visiting programs both as direct service staff and later as the statewide training coordinator.
