Public Health Alert: DEA Warns of Increase in Mass-Overdoses Related to Deadly Fentanyl

Mass-overdose events occur when three or more overdoses take place at the same location and close in time. These mass-overdose events are mainly attributed to dealers selling drugs claiming to be cocaine or selling fake prescription pills that look identical to legitimate prescription pills and instead, these drugs contain a deadly dose of fentanyl.

Overdoses Reach Their Highest Level Ever

New data released by the CDC show that over 83,000 people died from an overdose in the 12-month period ending in July of 2020. This tragic figure represents an 24.2% increase over the 12-month period ending in July of 2019 and is the highest number of overdoses ever recorded.
